The Hong Kong-listed company, partly owned by US billionaire Warren Buffet, got the necessary shareholder approval for the public float at the annual general meeting held in Shenzhen on Tuesday.

Hong Kong-listed BYD Co. Ltd., 10% owned by Warren Buffett affiliate MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., received shareholder approval to list its shares on the Shenzhen stock exchange next year, Wang Jianjun told China Daily. Jianjun is deputy general manager of BYD Auto Sales Co. Ltd., which is based in Shenzhen. He told the paper the listing could be complete before Sept. 7 and proceeds from the issue would be used for funding lithium-ion battery production, automobile research and development, and other ventures.
